Hello! My name is Diane Penna and I am the Reading Specialist at Yocum Elementary School. This is my first year in the Maple Shade school district and I love it. I work in the Basic Skills department with kindergarten, first, and second grade teachers and students. I attended Gettysburg College and Rutgers University where I graduated with a degree in English and an elementary teaching certificate. I attended The College of New Jersey earning a Master’s degree in developmental reading and a Reading Specialist certificate. I became a teacher because I love children and have a passion for learning about new things as well as new ideas. I live at home with my husband, daughters Laura and Holly, dog Espresso, and turtle Rainy. My oldest daughter, Aimee, has her own apartment. When I’m not at school I enjoy cooking spaghetti dinners, shopping for clothes and , of course, READING!
