Types of Applications
Common Application vs. Coalition Application vs. School-Specific Application
There are various applications that colleges and universities accept and many offer options when applying to their school.
The three most widely used applications are the Common Application (Common App),
Coalition for College application, and the school-specific application.
When more than one application is accepted, the applicant decides on which one they will submit.
When compiling a list of schools to be added to the college and university list, students should take note of the
application options for each individual school and decide which approach is best.
Many students elect to use the Common Application if all or the majority of colleges on their list accept it
to enable them to complete one application that will be used for all Common Application schools.
